Furnishing an Algarve Property: What You Need to Know
The Algarve is, by some margin, the most popular destination for British property buyers in Portugal. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, direct flights from most UK airports, world-class golf courses and some of Europe's finest beaches, it's easy to see why. The region stretches from the Spanish border in the east (Vila Real de Santo António, Tavira) through the Central Algarve (Faro, Loulé, Albufeira, Vilamoura, Quarteira) to the Western Algarve (Lagos, Sagres, Aljezur).
Each area has its own character, price point and property style — and that affects how you should furnish. A contemporary villa in Quinta do Lago demands premium brands and a clean, light aesthetic. A traditional quinchão near Monchique suits a more rustic, Portuguese farmhouse style. An apartment in the Albufeira strip is best furnished for rental optimisation — durable, easy-clean, and practical.
Furniture Portugal has worked across all of these contexts since 2010. Our base in Loulé puts us right in the heart of the Central Algarve, with easy access to every corner of the region. We know which local suppliers deliver on time, which Portuguese brands offer the best value, and how to transform a bare, newly-built property into something that feels like a real home.
Algarve Furniture Package Options
We offer four core package tiers for Algarve properties, all fully adaptable to your specific property and taste:
Studio / T0 Algarve Package — from €3,500
Ideal for beach studio apartments in areas like Meia Praia, Armação de Pêra or Portimão. The studio package covers a sofa bed or Murphy bed solution, compact dining for two, a kitchen essentials pack, bathroom set and all soft furnishings including curtains, rugs and cushions. We use IKEA Loulé for storage solutions and budget items, supplemented with quality Portuguese textile brands for soft furnishings.
1-Bed / T1 Algarve Package — from €5,000
Our most frequently requested package for the Algarve market. A T1 apartment — whether in an Algarve resort complex or a quiet village — needs to work as both a holiday home and a rental property. We balance style with practicality: quality sofa and armchair from Laskasas Portugal's Algarve dealer, a proper bedroom suite with a good-quality pocket-sprung mattress, dining set for four, and a complete kitchen and bathroom accessory pack.
2-Bed / T2 Algarve Package — from €8,000
The T2 is the workhorse of the Algarve rental market, consistently delivering strong yields in areas like Albufeira, Vilamoura and Carvoeiro. Our T2 package furnishes both bedrooms fully (we recommend king bed in master, twin option in guest for maximum rental flexibility), plus the living room, dining area, kitchen and both bathrooms. Terrace furniture is available as an add-on from €600.
Algarve Villa Package — from €15,000
A complete villa furnishing project is our most involved service and the one where our project management expertise really shines. For 3–5 bedroom villas in areas like Vale do Lobo, Quinta do Lago, São Brás de Alportel or the quiet hills around Silves, we handle everything from initial design consultation to final styling. We bring in premium Portuguese brands — Temahome, Munna for statement lighting, Laskasas for bedroom and living room furniture — alongside carefully chosen Portuguese artisan pieces.
Pool terrace furniture (typically from Spanish brand Kettal or Portuguese specialist Serax) is quoted separately, as are outdoor kitchens and barbecue areas. A typical large villa complete package — 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, open-plan living, terrace and pool area — will run to €20,000–€30,000.

The Process: From Quote to Move-In Ready
Our Algarve furnishing process is designed for clients who are based in the UK and can't be present throughout:
- Initial consultation (video call): We discuss your property, size, style preferences and budget. We'll ask for photos or floor plans if you have them.
- Package proposal: Within 5 working days, we provide a detailed written proposal with itemised costs and brand suggestions.
- Approval and deposit: On approval, we take a 30% deposit to begin procurement. All major items are ordered from Portuguese suppliers to ensure availability.
- Delivery coordination: We coordinate all delivery windows with your property manager or key-holding service in Portugal.
- Installation: Our two-person installation team assembles all furniture, makes all beds, hangs all curtains and sets up the kitchen and bathroom accessory packs.
- Handover: We send you a full photographic record of the completed property, ready for you or your guests.
Algarve Property Furnishing: Frequently Asked Questions
Can I bring furniture from the UK to Portugal?
You can, but it's rarely worth it. Post-Brexit, bringing goods to Portugal is subject to customs declarations. If you've been resident in Portugal for less than 12 months, there's no removal exemption and you'll potentially face import VAT at 23%. Logistics costs are also significant. In most cases, buying in Portugal is cheaper and far simpler.
What if my property is still being built?
Very common. We work with off-plan buyers regularly. We'll conduct a virtual tour once construction is complete and schedule delivery for your completion date. We can also advise on pre-completion decisions that affect furnishing — like kitchen layout, power point placement and built-in wardrobe options.
How long does a full T2 furnishing take?
Typically 2–3 weeks from deposit to move-in ready, assuming all items are in stock (which we verify before proposing). Rush completions (7–10 days) are possible for an additional fee.
